Introducing Interim Vice Principal of Elementary

As you may know, earlier this year FFCS began the search for a new Vice Principal of Elementary (VPE). Mrs. Bourne, our current VPE, has a passion for art and with the opening of the art position earlier this year, requested to be considered for that position. We are delighted that Mrs. Bourne will continue to be an integral part of the FFCS faculty.

The Board’s intent was to hire the new vice principal prior to the end of the school year to allow sufficient time for orientation and transition.  Given the disruption caused by the COVID-19 closure, we believe it’s in the best interest of FFCS students to minimize additional changes during this unprecedented time in our school history. At the same time, we want to provide the elementary families with highly qualified support as we move into what may be a very unusual fall.

With this in mind, the Board decided to seek an interim VPE for the 2020-2021 school year. This interim approach will allow more time to search for and select a candidate to continue the strategic initiatives that have been put in place, with less disruption.

I am delighted to share with you that the Board unanimously voted to offer Kathy McKee the position of Interim Vice Principal of Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year.  Mrs. McKee joined the FFCS team in 2018 to revitalize the Achievement Center, and also taught in our 5th grade classroom. With many years of teaching experience, Mrs. McKee has also been a professor in Multnomah University’s Education Department, and brings a wealth of practical experience to the position.

We believe it offers the best of both worlds…a highly qualified and respected professional to fill the Vice Principal role on an interim basis, and Mrs. Bourne fills a vital role as Art Teacher. We are grateful for Mrs. McKee’s willingness to step into this full time role.  The Board and I also wish to express our deep appreciation for the dedication and Godly approach of Mrs. Bourne  in her two years in the position.

Despite the ever changing landscape, we continue to see God’s hand at work here at FFCS. He has again shown himself faithful in meeting the needs of FFCS as we continue in our mission of assisting parents in developing the talents and gifts of our students as they rise up as leaders in our homes, churches and community. We ask that you pray for our team over the summer as we look forward to what promises to be an exciting new year for FFCS!
