Value of Biblical Literacy in Day-to-Day Life

Recently, I spent some time reviewing current research in Christian education. The Association for Christian Schools International, of which Firm Foundation is a member, shared findings from a study examining the relationship between biblical literacy and academic achievement among students in grades 7–12. The results were compelling: students with the highest levels of biblical literacy also demonstrated the strongest academic performance, including higher GPAs and higher rankings in tests and grades. Conversely, students with lower levels of biblical literacy tended to have lower GPAs and lower overall academic outcomes.
At FFCS, we are committed to helping students see that the Bible is far more than a historical text—it is a source of wisdom and guidance for everyday life. While understanding the historical context and meaning of Scripture is essential, we place equal importance on applying its principles in meaningful, practical ways.
As we partner with families to raise the next generation of leaders, we intentionally create opportunities for students to live out their faith through service and engagement in the community. Our annual Serve Day is a meaningful expression of this commitment. Students were sent out into the local community, serving others with enthusiasm and purpose. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive—your students were recognized for their helpfulness, compassion, and strong work ethic. FFCS students are truly a blessing to our community.
